Widows

Solid movie start to finish!

A survival tale that’s less flashy than Oceans 8 but with more motive, passion, and grit packaged in. There’s plenty of Chicago in this film too which – if you live out here – will definitely catch your eye. The cast was a total fit and delivered genuine convincing performances.

Following the passing of their criminal husbands, three widows are confronted not only with grief but also with the conflict of a debt to be paid. Together they form a heist that takes the audience along for the ride. Plenty of adrenaline and on the edge of your seat moments. The necessary back-story for these characters was also handled seamlessly without too many tear-away-from-reality moments.

Cinematography? Wowzerz, it was good! There were plenty of perspective shots that displayed excellent depth and scale. Some of these angles were purely experimental and I’ve never seen in a movie before. It was especially neat-o to see all of the shots of Chicago with plenty of recognizable landmarks. You can truly get a feel for what the director wanted you to see and feel.

Plus, who doesn’t like a good heist movie!? Not predictable at all either!

Date Flick? – Yea! Why not? Even though this is a heist movie in some respects, I feel like it’s a thrill that your date could appreciate even if they are not into those sorts of flicks.

Great Flick? - No doubt about it! Would not be surprised at all if this film gets nominated.
