PARASITE

10/10

(rotten tomatoes – 99%)

(IMDb – 8.6/10)

Cunningly, clever rags-to-riches story full of depth, metaphorical symbolism, and hilarity.

Set in South Korean, this blue-collar family finds a way to make a name for themselves and also a few bucks on the side. Beyond the subtitles, it is easy to translate and doesn't tear you away from the story.

I can already hear my film class professor picking this one apart. It is completely saturated with motifs, call-backs, and character development. Each character plays their part, and brings something to the table, and lives up to their underdog potential.

This film didn’t feel predictable at all, and also at times, I wondered how it would all resolve at the end. Full of mystery, suspense, and more behind the curtain than meets the eye.

Talk about a full circle, 2-hour fantastic flick. Potentially would see this one again.

BTW – the theater was mostly packed and might I add that this premiered months ago back in October (currently Jan 2020) – impressive!

TL;DR

( too long ; didn't read )

Great flick? – Fantastic film worthy of the Oscar nomination it received.

Date flick? – Yeah, absolutely! Plenty of couples in the theater.
