6/10
Meh. Look I’m a Harry Potter fan and all but I didn’t exactly love this movie. Striking glamorous CGI but the plot line was lacking and also hard to follow. The first Fantastic Beats had a better story line to follow but there were a few notable things about this movie that I enjoyed.
You would think that the movie Crimes of Grindelward that there were would be more backstory on these crimes, right? Nope! Maybe I missed something here… but there was far less focus on these crimes and more on this newly introduced chosen boy, played by Ezra Miller. You know, that kid from Perks of Being a Wallflower, and also played the Flash, I think?
The beasts were pretty fantastic per usual, and I think that it’s the main highlight of the movie. Johnny Depp played a good villain role and I liked his performance overall. Although the movie was flashy, it was fun to view and take in. There were many draw dropping chase scenes and amazing magic tricks happening left and right.
Cool back-story to Nagini, Nicholas Flamel (Sorcerer’s Stone), and Dumbeldore. I will say though, that there were too many characters introduced in the last movie that I feel like are just throw-away and only there for colorful background.
Going back to Hogwarts was sweet though, but not enough Dumbeldore time. They should just make a spin-off series of the prequel to Hogwarts starting rather than cramming together this whole separate side-story. I do want to see how they expanded the magical universe, but it’s also definitely not necessary in my opinion.

Date Flick: Sure yea, if your date is a Harry Potter fan. Go for it.
Great Flick: Nah I wouldn’t say so. It was fun to watch though.
