The true story of a teenage heist crew who think they are Ocean's 11 but are actually just idiot kleptomaniacs filled with bling-bling celebrity fantasy.
These kids are so careless with their "five-finger discounts" that they go to the great lengths of breaking and entering into the homes of notable celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. You bet that there are consequences for these actions but I don't want to spoil the movie for ya.
The viewer will ultimately be faced with the question of should I actually root for these cat burglars, or what I like to call - "Robin Hoodies"? Sorry for the lame joke.
I feel like the director of this film, Sofia Coppola, wanted you to understand their inner conflict and the power of greed and peer pressure to look and feel "cool". Although I didn't love this movie, you can tell that the story was artfully painted by Coppola, and she has a pretty decent track record. My favorite film that she directed was "Lost in Translation" starring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray.
This is a very LA / valley girl sort of crew, and their accents are so annoying. Although their accents were laid on pretty thick, I felt like Emma Watson did a great job of shelving her British accent for this role. She is a very talented actress so it wasn't a surprise to me that she could be the ring leader of this team.
There really isn't anything redeeming about this story, besides a pretty obvious moral. I felt like the cast did a pretty good job, but I truly hated every decision the characters made along the way. The only thrill was watching them casually walk into the homes of celebrities.
Also, I'm really not a fan of how so many movies/documentaries are coming out these days related to true stories surrounding criminals. Why should a criminal get a movie deal? Anyway, that's my two cents...
