Bird Box

NO SPOILERS

8/10

This isn’t exactly the blindside, but once again Sandra Bullock delivers another stoic performance.

Do I think it is worth the hype? Not so much, but I still liked it. I think that’s the thing though – once something blows up on the internet, everyone rushes to their gaming console and streams Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu. Apparently, this movie was well marketed too but also easily accessible. Oh yeah, and that Birdbox challenge really blew up the internet for a day or two.

It really wasn’t scary, however it did have that end of the world, pandemonium vibe. It could be a little gruesome at some points but only with the victims of the monsters. I did however like the concept of the villain, but was slightly disappointed when all was said and done. I’m not going to spoil the movie for you so I’ll just shut my mouth, ok? I'm not gonna tell you what the Bird Box is anyway. I'm a human being!

The character development was well handled even with the little detail that was given in the beginning of the movie. I could really tell that the filmmakers wanted you to put together the story for yourself when they would feed you bits and pieces of the storyline along the way. I do appreciate a movie that makes me think a little bit. There were a few motifs and hidden symbolism along the way that had a nice flair to it too.

Date Flick? – Yea, absolutely.

Great Flick? – Yes, but I don’t think it deserved all that hype though.
